Background
The Engineering Department accepted bids on May 21, 2026, for Project FAC-F-6824, Building 140 Fire Training Aluminum Window Inserts. The project includes replacing the Fire Training tower’s deteriorated composite window and door panels with solid aluminum panels designed to provide a more durable, long-term solution for repeated exposure to extreme temperatures during training activities.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by MGS Cortex Construction, Inc. in the amount of $126,750. A total of 2,353 vendors were notified of the project, and three (3) complete bids were received as shown in the attached bid recap.
If the project is not awarded, the existing composite panels will remain in service and continue to deteriorate, resulting in increased maintenance needs and reduced long-term reliability of the Fire Training tower.
Financial Summary/Strategic Goals
Funding for this item is available in the 2025-26 Fire & Public Safety Facilities CIP. Construction services for the Fire Training Aluminum Window Inserts project, in the total amount of $126,750, will leave a current year balance of $28,464 for future expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
