Background
City of Plano staff use herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides as part of the maintenance program for medians, rights-of-way, park sites, athletic fields, and golf course turf.
These products are essential components of the City's comprehensive landscape management program. When applied properly, they help maintain healthy turf and landscapes, control weeds and pests, and support safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing public spaces for residents and visitors.
It is the department's recommendation to approve the purchase of herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides in an estimated annual amount of $234,000 from SiteOne Landscape Supply LLC for term of one (1) year with two (2) one-year automatic renewals through City Contract No. 2026-0519-OR (Buy Board Contract No. 805-86).
If approval of this award is denied, the City's landscapes and turf areas would become increasingly susceptible to weeds, insects, and diseases that adversely affect turf and plant health. Over time, this would result in declining landscape quality, weakened turf, reduced aesthetics and playability of athletic fields and golf course surfaces, and potentially unsafe conditions for park users.
