Background
The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $628,400 for engineering professional services from Hazen and Sawyer, P.C. for the Water Rehabilitation - Prairie Creek, Post Oak, and Kimberlea Estates. This project includes preliminary design, final design, and construction related engineering services for the replacement of approximately 13,550 linear feet of 6-inch and 8-inch cast iron water lines in roads and parkways. The project includes repair of affected concrete pavement and the installation of sidewalk ramps in the Prairie Creek, Post Oak, and Kimberlea Estates neighborhoods located at the northwest corner of Independence Parkway and Parker Road.
Hazen and Sawyer, PC. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications for the Community Investment Program Water and Wastewater Solicitation RFQ No. 2023-0525-XR. Hazen and Sawyer, P.C. has previously performed engineering services on a similar water rehabilitation project for the City of Plano, including the completion of Water Rehabilitation - Steeplechase Estates project. The firm has demonstrated expertise in surveying, subsurface utility engineering, and street improvements, all of which are essential to the successful completion of this project.
