body

Background

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $270,487.50 for engineering professional design services from Walter P. Moore and Associates, Inc. for the Erosion Control Improvements - Various Locations project. This project includes streambank stabilization, vegetation establishment, outfall reconstruction, and sewer realignment for various critical erosion sites across the city.

Walter P. Moore and Associates, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for the Community Investment Program for Civil Design RFQ No. 2025-0154-AC. Walter P. Moore and Associates, Inc. has experience performing engineering services on similar erosion control projects for the City of Plano, including Erosion Control - Indian Creek Tributary No. 13, and the Citywide Streambank Erosion Assessment.

If this expenditure is not approved, streambank erosion is expected to continue, increasing the risk of damage to nearby wastewater and storm drainage infrastructure, environmental degradation, and public safety hazards, along with higher long-term maintenance costs.

Financial Summary/Strategic Goals

Funding for this item is budgeted in the 2026-27 Municipal Drainage CIP and is planned for future years, as well.  Approval of the contract for engineering professional design services for the Erosion Control Improvements - Various Locations project has a total cost of $270,488.

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
