Background
The Engineering Department received cooperative quotes on June 5, 2026, for All Fire Stations - Replace Remote Overhead Door Opening Systems, Project No. Project FAC-F-1000. Due to the specialized nature of the system, quotes were requested from three (3) factory-authorized firms available through approved public purchasing cooperative contracts. These firms possess the required manufacturer training and authorization to install and support the specified technology. All three (3) firms submitted complete quotes. Following review of the quotes, Convergint Technologies, LLC submitted the lowest-priced quote meeting the project requirements in the amount of $355,730.18, as shown on the attached cooperative quote recap.
If the project is not awarded, the City risks losing the ability to remotely operate the overhead doors because the existing technology is no longer supported by the manufacturer. This could delay emergency response and disrupt critical services.
The City is authorized to purchase from a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or a local cooperative organization pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter F of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items. Financial Summary/Strategic Goals
Funding for this item is available in the 2025-26 Capital Maintenance Fund. Construction services for the All Fire Stations - Replace Remote Overhead Door Opening System project, in the total amount of $355,730, will utilize all remaining funding for this project.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
