Background

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) received $1.038 billion per House Bill 500 to provide one-time Water Supply and Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) funding. This funding supports construction-ready projects, including water supply and infrastructure improvements, TCEQ compliance efforts, and water reuse initiatives. The grant application requires a resolution from the City’s governing body approving the application and designating an authorized representative.

If the resolution is approved, the City would have the opportunity to apply for this TWDB grant and potentially be awarded the WSIG funds to support Engineering Project No. ENG-W-00001, Water Rehabilitation - Kimberlea Additions in the amount of $9,835,500 for construction. The grant funding would enable staff to supplement the City’s 2026-2027 water fund.

If the resolution is not approved, funding for the project will come out of the City’s water fund in the Community Investment Program budget for 2026-2027.

Attachments listed for the grant application have been prepared and will be included in the full application packet to the TWDB.
