Background
Greenfield Drive is a 36-foot-wide collector street with Hendrick Middle School on the north side and residences on the south side. During dismissal, the school’s carpool line enters from the northernmost driveway on Red River Drive and exits onto Greenfield Drive.
Plano Independent School District (PISD) personnel informed city staff that parents routinely park on both sides of Greenfield Drive adjacent to the school. This on-street parking on the north side of Greenfield Drive obstructs carpool operations and creates hazardous sight-distance conditions for motorists. PISD has requested parking restrictions along the Greenfield Drive school frontage to address these conditions.
The Transportation Engineering Division has evaluated the location and recommends establishing a No Parking zone along a section of Greenfield Drive to improve traffic flow and ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
